However, the book is still generally very good and tight. From endpapers have the appearance of watered silk, some background foxing and marking, 112 numbered pages, 15 dual-tone plates to the rear: foxing conducive with age to pages. 12.25 x 9.75 inches approx. Chapter I opens with 'The Visit of His Majesty Leopold II, King of the Belgians to this country has had so many singular and pleasing incidents connected with it that a brief record of the event has been prepared for those who took part in it. This volume is neither expected nor indeed intended to have a general circulation. ' Some of the plates are records of the contemporary Lord Lieutenants with their heraldic crests and the current Mayors with their crests. The book also contains a 'List of Subscribers to the National Address and Silver Casket Presented to their Majesties the King and Queen of the Begians. ' There is also a 'List of the National Committee and Municipal Representatives who attended the presentation of the Silver Casket containing the National Address to their Majesties the King and Queen of the Belgians, February 1st 1870. ' A fascinating book for collectors of books about Royalty also a useful reference for anyone looking at the organisation of Royal events. Particularly interesting for followers of the Royal Family in Belgium. Also a neat record of those in charge of local government at this time! Rare and unusual.
