Title: Fear Fortune, Father
Description: London, Victor Gollancz. 1974, First Edition. (ISBN: 057501833X). Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A near Fine unmarked copy with VG+ dustjacket which is not price clipped. 223 pages. The technical manager of an engineering works loses his job in a take-over reorganisation. He is 50, married, with a large house to maintain. What is he to do? His answer to that question is startling: he turns to burglary. And very successfully, for he brings to his new profession all his old skill, intelligence and resourcefulness. Of course there are complications. To deceive his wife at first, and later his neighbours, he has to invent a cover story; and as he is drawn more deeply into a life of crime, the cover story grows more complex. And a further complication is his relationship with a crippled 17 year old girl, who involves him in his most ambitious crime, a factory wages robbery. 20. Near Fine/Very Good.
