Title: Churchill's Secret War - Diplomatic Decrypts, the Foreign Office and Turkey 1942-44
Description: Stroud, Gloucestershie, Chancellor Press. 2000, First Edition. (ISBN: 0753703823). Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A Fine unmarked copy in pictorial laminated boards with Fine dustjacket. xv + 208 pages. 10 plates. In the book the author brings to light a plan to open a second front in the Balkans, from Turkey across the eastern Mediterranean, to hasten D-Day in the west. He also reveals new information on the Cicero spy scandal in 1943 when top secret Foreign Office documents were stolen in Ankara by the British Ambassador's valet, who passed them to the Germans. More light is shed on Churchill's role in foreign policy than has been supposed, and although neither head of state nor a commander-in-chief, he personally exerted considerable influence to force Turkey into the Second World War.
