Cecil James Sibbett was a South African Naturalist, President of the South African Botanical Society, a politician, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the South African National Gallery. In this book he amusingly writes of cliches, and as Horace Flather states 'in the junkpile of dusty discards that Mr. Sibbett has assembled are to be found phrases of rare beauty, literary gems that still sparkle in their original setting'. 20.
