Born into a Catholic family and living in a small Catholic community, he visited a monastery and was encouraged to become a priest, but he first had to provide for his widowed mother and for his own expenses, so he returned to the Cotswolds and began to farm. In the second half of the book he describes his training for the priesthood at home and abroad, the joys and problems he encountered and his story ends with his ordination. NOT EX LIB R9.
