[2] (2)nn pp + 180 pp. Bound in contemporary full leather, smooth gilt decorated spines ith two leather labels. Edges painted red. Upper joint of first volume broken but still holding, some minor traces of use. Interior fine. With an unidentified private library stamp on title of first volume (small circular stamp with a head and the initials B.G.). Still a fine and complete set of one of the major 18th century book auction sales in the Low Countries. . The auction catalogue contains more than 10500 lots. The Antwerp Jesuit establishment was the most important of the Southern Netherlands and had played an important role in the Counter-Reformation. All their holdings were confiscated and sold after the dissolution of their order in 1773. This catalogue is a lasting token of their important intellectual effort in serving the Roman Catholic church. It opens with a chapter on bibles: 134 titles in format in-folio... .
