Bound in old overlapping vellum (contemporary ?), Very good preserved binding and copy. Extremely rare copy of a Roman Catholic ''Officio'' for the holy Mary. Published in the The Italian Florentine vernacular. The translation was made by Francesco Zeffi ( died in 1546) who made also an Italian translation of Erasmus' edition of the works of St. Jerome (Hieronymus, Girolamo). Zeffi was tutor of Filippo Strozzi. He wrote also a biography of Filippo's father : Lorenzo; published in 1529. This edition of the Uficio (1543) is dedicated to Maria Soderina de Medici and her daughter Maddalena. The edition is unknown to Camerini (mentions only an edition of 1541 and 1545). Anne Schutte (Printed Italian Vernacular Religious Books 1465 - 1550) mentions this edition on pp. 249. Very finely preserved copy of an extremely rare book. An interesting example of the Florentine vernacular in the ''Cinquecento''. .
