Description: Leiden, Etienne Luzac, 1791, format small in-4°, 20,50 x 15,5 cm, A complete year 1791 consisting of 104 issues with the supplements. Each issue consists of 8 nn pp. The publication rate was twice a week. Issue 1 was published on 4 jan. 1791; issue 104 on 30 dec; 1791. The issues are bound in one volume (19th c. half cloth, spine with gilt title, boards covered with marbled paper). Many issues show minor signs of being folded before they were bound in. All issues are uncut and in very fine condition. This newspaper (commonly known as ''Gazette de Leyde'') was destined for the French market which existed in the Netherlands, the Southern Netherlands and of course France. Advertisements. deal with information pertainig to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Gent, Brussels, Paris, Magdebourg etc. Issues 51-52-53 ( june ) report on the flight of King Louis XVI to Varennes. (20 june). Issue 69 (20/8/91) bring information on the French revolution and the massacre at the Champ de Mars. . For this information the newspaper quotes extensively from ''Nouvelles de Paris''.. A complete year, in fine condition is extremely rare. .
