Description: .: Fribourg (CH), 1780, manuscript on paper, in-8°, 17 x 10,5 cm. Bound in marbled paper covered boards (contemporary binding). Manuscript title on smooth spine. Some wear at extremeties, with some loss of paper, interior fine and very readable, written in one hand. The manuscript consists of 4 parts. [1] 184 lvs. [2] 33 lvs - only first lvs numbered 1-27. [3] 4 lvs. [4] 3 lvs ; [5] 18 lvs. The first paste down contains the following note: Ex Bibliotheca Hutte 1780. Ce livre et le coutumier du Pays d"e Vaud manuscrit m'ont été acheté et envoyér par M. Richard avocat a Fribourg a qui j'ai compté p[ou]r le coût 42 (?) et 10 (?) (unidentified money units). Very well preserved jurisprudence manuscript. As far as we could ascertained there exists no printed publication on the Fribourg customary laws. The neat aspect of this manuscript leads us to beleave that a (small) number was written by a designated scribe. The customer had perhaps the possibility to order the inclusion of certain special rules ; in this case rules for the notary and the auction practice. .
