The author published this anonymous attack on François Delfau just after his opponent had drown (near Brest). No one before had dared in France to oppose Delfau's view that Jean Gerson was the author of the ''Imitatio Christi'', and not Thomas à Kempis as was believed in the northern countries. Testelette' publication was immediately repudiated by the mighty and influential Dom Mabilllon. The discussen went on until the original manuscript, by the hand of Thomas a Kempis, was discovered in the Royal Library in Brussels. .
