Title: Photography album, late 19th c. containing 21 leaves. Views of English country side - Swiss and Italian mountain views.
Description: .: S.L. ( United Kingdom), s.d. (ca. 1880 - 1900), a;bum bound in black half morocco, raised gilt spine, edges gilt ( in fine condition). Containing 21 boardlike leaves, with mounted photographs. The first 9 leaves contain in all 20 photographs ( post card format) showing an English country house, river scenes, some interiors and portraits and 2 very good pictures of Fountains abbey. The remaining leaves are filled with 13 arge professional photographs, often with printed captions in the plate. E.G N° 1411 ''barque sur Lac Leman''. Nr. 31 Lugano et le Monte Salvatore (Ede. Schroeder & Cie Zürich). Nr. 1463 P.Z. Hotel Schwarzsee & Matterhorn ( with blind stamp of A.G. Champagne - Paris) This is a colour photograph. Nr. 2468. Lucerne-Vue sur la Ville et le Pilate (photo N.D. = Neurdain). 2 Photo. of Zermatt and the Matterhorn (anonymous). Nr. 22 Traversée du Glacière des Bossons (Chamonix) signed ''Tairraz'' ( Joseph Tairraz 1827 - 1902). Another by Tairraz - Montenvert - Mer de Glace. All the photographs are in good condition (except one view of Wassen - Wasen by Boselli, this ph. is faded.) Small but neat and interesting photography album containing several fine late 19th c. albumen prints of Swiss and French mountain views. Some signed by Joseph Tairraz. The earlier photographs at the beginning of the album show English country side views; and 2 views of Fountains abbey. Some leaves of the album have been removed by a previous owner. .
