Both works bound in later (17th c. ?) full vellum with yapped edges, raised spine with title label in black leather. With the manuscript ex-libris on the first title page of the Jesuit College of Maastricht, dated 1636. '' Collegij Soc(ie)tis Jesu' Traiecti ''. On the first fly leaf a dated (1844) private manuscript ex-libris. A fine copy with two complete religious publications pertaining to Council of Trent. Both authors - Pole and Ayala - played an important role at this Council. Pole, whose mother was atrociously executed by king Henry VIII, was the last Roman Catholic archbishop of Canterbury and a fierce opponent of the king. Pérez de Ayala attended all three sessions of the Council. He was archbishop of Valencia. He choose Benito Arias Montano to accompany him to the Council. He made a reputation for denouncing the corruption at the Council. His ''De Divinis...'' is his main work. He discusses here idolatry, the veneration of the relics of Saints, their tombs and images. .
