Bound in contemporary roan, smooth spine with leather title label, with copper clasp. Binding with some wear but still a good copy. This is a rare late 18th c. Spanish provincial edition of the Passion elegies by the Flemish Jesuit Sidronius Hosschius ( Merkem, near Bruges 1596 - Tongeren 1653). It did not escape the attention of De Backer-Sommervogel (see Vol. IV , pp. 474). His '' Elegies'' were famous and widely read in Europe . This edition has the Latin text with the translation in Castellan ( Spanish) on the opposite page. .
