Parisiis ( Paris ) , Apud Arnoldum & Carolum les Angeliers frates, ad aulae Regiae primam & secundam columnam praesidum, ante facellum praesidum, 1546, in-8°, (54)nn pp + (790)pp numbered 1->395 + (10)nn pp ( complete), bound in later boards covered with marbled paper (binding with wear but technically sound). Title page slightly dustsoiled but on the whole a clean crisp copy with some contemporary notes in the margin, finely written in a small hand. From the library of Pierre Lammens, with his printed ex-libris tipped on to the first paste down. This is the second edition, one year after the expensive in-folio. The title contains a portrait vignette of Francis I which is taken from the folio edition (first edition in-f°, 1545). The commentary, in Latin, accompanying the rules (in French) decreed by François I in 1539 to speed up judicial proceedings throughout France. Rare, USTC lists only 2 copies outside the French-speaking area. (None in Germany or the UK, only 1 in the U.S.). .
