Description: Mainz, no printer, 1840, in-8°, viii pp + 207 pp + 2(of4) lithographic plates, bound in contemporary marbled boards, with a tipped in printed ex-libris on the first paste down. This copy lacks two plates; a line engraved portrait of Gutenberg ; a man pulling a 15th c. press). These are the two least interesting plates.
