Compilation of the auction sale results of painting sales organised in the Low Countries, mostly Holland (Amsterdam, The Hague, Dordrecht etc. but also in Antwerp, Brussels..) The first volume starts with a sale in Amsterdam in 1684 and goes on for another 63 sales up till 1739. The second series gives another 60 sales and ends with the description of still extant (in 1762) painting collections. The rare third volume, published in 1770 gives approx. another 100 art auction sale catalogues and ends with a 32 pp list of the painting collection of the Prince of Oranje. This is certainly one of the first ''Art Indexes'' ever compiled. It contains valuable information on the art trade and the general artistic climate in the Low Countries in the 17th and 18th century. .
