Description: .: Lugduni ( Lyon ) , Horatius Cardon, 1609, large thick in-8°, 238 x 154 mm , (24)n pp + pp 2- 1859 + (15)nn pp + pp 1861-2494 + (92)nn pp (complete). Bound in contemporary full overlapping vellum, with two brass clasps (in good order). Manuscript title on fore edge and spine. Binding very finely preserved. Fine impressive copy notwithstanding a clear old waterstain throughout the lower corner of the book. Title printed in red and black, with printer' mark in woodcut. The Italian lawyer became professor at Ingolstadt University and worked for Wilhelm V of Bavaria. The first edition of this book was published in Ingolstadt in 1595 (in 9 parts). Afterwards it was steadily expanded and received 20 editions throughout the 17th century, a last one by Sartorius of Ingolstadt in 1711.. .
