Description: .: Nürnberg, Wirsing graveur, 1764, in-folio, 37,5 x 24,5 cm, engraved title page (with contemporary handcolouring) + 48 pp + 12 full page engraved plates ( all with cont. handcolouring), bi-lingual edition with French and German text printed parallel in two colums. Bound in later red half morocco with marbled boards. Title page slightly soiled with some minor stains, three plates have been slightly shaved by the binder resulting in the partial loss of the engraved border fillet in two plates (II , X) and a bit more damage to plate V which has some loss at two smaller side images. Still a fine and attractive copy of the only edition of this beautiful botanical work illustrated with finely coloured plates based on microscopic observations. Very rare. (See Bib. Arpad Plesch 303 ->De Belder 207 ; Nissen 1160 ; Hunt 581 ). .
