Decree ( placcaet) emanating from the Coucil of Flanders ( Raad van Vlaanderen) to regulate the importation of copper ore and copper wares in order to enhance the quality of copper wares. The first such decree dates from 15th Nov. 1588 and needed obviously some adaptations. The import of copper ware and ore from Aachen (Germany) and Stahlberg-Schmalkalden (Thuringen) is strictly forbidden because it is of inferior quality. Only copper ore from Limburg ( from the Ardennes area via the Meuse river ?) can be used. The children of copper workers from Namur and Bovignes who settled in Flanders since 1554 have one year to leave the country.
