(ca. 1910) , oblong photoalbum, 20 x 25 cm, photosize 165 x 220 mm, contains 18 original photographs mounted on boards (one side only) and bound in Leporello style album, gilt title on album, printed captions on the boards, finely preserved. The photos illustrate the iron works at Ostrava Vitkovice at the time when they were the largest iron and steel works in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. (located in the Moravia area, now the Czech Republic). The company was created in 1873 by the heirs of Salomon Mayer von Rothschild and taken over by the Nazis when Germany invaded Czechoslovakia in 1939. In 2002 part of the steelworks were designated ''National Cultural Landmark''. The photos give a fine impression of the inside and outside of the blast furnaces, foundry plants, rolling mills etc.. .
