(40)nn pp (Title , dedication, censura, soneto, prologo, catalogo de los autores) + (358) pp (leaves numbered 1-179) + (3)nn pp (bl) (complete) ; (4)nn pp (title , dedication) + (629)pp (leaves 1-4 not numbered, further numbered 5- 314, with numerous errors. ) + (8)nn pp (tabula). Signatures A-Nni/viii (Complete). Text of the first book printed in two columns, illustrated with some wood-engravings in the text. Bound in 19th century full red leather with gilt fillets and a supra-libro (Biblioteca de Salvá) on both covers, all edges gilt. On the first paste down an ex-libris with the initials R.I. ( Ricardo Heredia). Binding with some wear at the extremeties, inside with the usual (but still minimal) stains at some pages ; still a very beautiful complete copy of a rare book. This is the first edition of Ovidius works in the Spanish language in the translation of Sanchez de Viana, with as a separate publication his commentaries. This copy from the famous library of Salva which was sold in 1872 en bloc to Heredia. His library was dispersed at the end of the 19th century. (see also Palau 207496 & 207497). .
