Description: 16. Amsterdam, chez Charles Allard ( apud Carolum Allard ), s.d. ( ca. 1680-1700 ), suite of 16 flower engravings in portrait format , (title plate unnumbered, flower plates numbered 2-16), paper size 314 x 204 mm, engraving size 240 x 168 mm, plates numbered in lower left corner, all flower plates with engraved borderline. No names of engravers, nor designers, nor flower names. All plates with foliage colouring, only 5 plates with colouring of the flower. Plates are loose (no binding). The title page is rather seriously thumbed and dustsoiled, also with some stains. 3 Plates are waterstained, a few other plates have some smaller stains. (Set should be cleaned). Extremely rare suite of decorative flower engravings. Not in Nissen, neither in Pritzel nor Berliner Ornamentstichkatalog. Charles Allard is known as an Amsterdam publisher of maps and topographical views (e.g. a series of views of '' Paleis Het Loo'' ). We have not been able to trace this publication. .
