Description: 16. Paris, Chez Louis, s.d. (1773), in-8°, titlepage + 272 pp, entirely engraved, contains engraved music, bound in contemporary leather, gilt decorated spine, binding worn and with bumped corners, headcaps missing, some quires slightly loose in binding. The name of the original printer on the title page has been tipped over with a printed slip of paper indicating that the work is sold now by Louis in Paris, marchand de Musique in the Rue du Roule n°6. This dates obviously from after the Revolution as the slip speaks of '' Départemens ''. The composer Fuchs, 1660-1741, was Kapellmeister to the Austrian emperors Leopold I, Joseph I, Charles VI. This is his only and very influential theoretical work, unfortunately in a worn binding (reliure usée).. .
