Conv. Viene 1753''. Endpapers slightly browned, binding with some shelf wear, but still a fine copy. Narrative of the martyrs' death of three Dominican priests which were executed in China in 1752. One of them; Francisco Serrano was ordained bishop of Tipara by Pope Benedict XIV while in a Chinese prison. According to Charles Louis Richard in his '' Bibliothèque Sacrée ou Dictionnaire Universel Historique...1822''; the author of this book was Jean Thomas de Boxadors, a native of Barcelona who became head of the Dominican order in 1756. He was in fact the direct successor of Bremond. In the same entry C.L. Richard states that Boxadors was killed by the Lisbon earthquake of November 1755, which makes it very contradictory... .
