In-4° , 27,5 x 21 cm, (40)nn pp with an engraved title-page + 490pp + (38) nn pp (index). 19th century half leather with marbled boards, smooth spine, spine damaged with loss of leather at lower end, joints weak but holding, leather of spine worn, apart from the binding a good copy. First edition of this collection of quotations, accounts, testimonies etc. on the history of the Jesuit order. The book is especially important for the information it contains on the South American activities of the Order. The author left Europe for Paraguay in 1632 and died in Cordoba de Tucaman.
