Modern half leather, raised spine with gilt title. Small library stamp in margin of the engraved title, some dustsoiling and foxing spots (mostly in the margin) at the first five leaves, but still a good copy with large margins. First edition of this collection of quotations, accounts, testimonies etc. on the history of the Jesuit order. The book is especially important for the information it contains on the South American activities of the Order. The author left Europe for Paraguay in 1632 and died in Cordoba de Tucaman. The title page was designed by Quellinus and engraved by Collin. (Palau, III, 355. De Backer-Sommervogel volume III col. 1552). .
