Fine record of the most influential and earliest Art Nouveau building in France. Guimard, a pupil of Violet-le-Duc, originally designed this six story high apartment building in Paris as a neo-gothic building. After a visit to Belgium, where he met Victor Horta, he completely revised the facade and decorations of the Castel Béranger. This book, with its superb coloured plates illustrates the interior and the exterior of the building which was decorated in Horta's exuberant floral art nouveau style. .
