Paris, de l'imprimerie de J.Claye, 1855, in-folio, 48,5 x 31,5 cm, halftitle + chromolithographed frontispiece (plate I) + title + (4) pp (numbered i-iii, blank) + 66 + (1) pp + 5 fullpage coloured lithographic plates (including the frontispiece plate), contemporary half cloth, marbled boards, endpapers a bit foxed, first pages with some thumbing but still a very acceptable copy. Study with chromolithographic illustrations by Jean Engelman (pioneer of this method of printing) on a mediaval enamelled box made around the time of Saint Louis and given by his grandson to the abbey of Lis. The box is ornated with the coats of arms of the principal vazals of the king. The text gives a complete description with illustrations of coats of arms in the text. With a manuscript ex-dono by the author on the half title to ''Madame la Vicomte de ....(made illegible)". .
