Originally published in 12 parts. Condition - Volume 1 in original publisher's blind stamped cloth, which has been rebacked, bumping, wear to extremities, age toning to text pages, some spotting. Volume 2 similarly bound, although not rebacked, spine split, with losses, contents loose, but all complete, bookplates of George Palmer Hope & Paul miles to prelims. blind stamp of J H Williams to title page, small binders label to rear pastedown. Laid in is a letter from the Victoria & Albert Museum, in which there is confirmation, that the plates are an early example of zinc plate lithography. [784]. Good.
