Overall dimensions 290x255mm. Etching on Chamois Vélin. Contemp wooden frame with raised gilded decorative motifs in Art Nouveau style (perhaps designed by artist). Etching signed in pencil at right lower margin. This copy printed in a very small edition on special paper , and for this occasion only printed by Otto Feising. Charming aquatinted original etching signed in pencil by Artist, Heinrich Vogeler, a central member of the [first original] artist colony in Worpswede which he joined in 1894. As a book illustrator he worked in art nouveau style, and executed paintings for the town haall of Bremen befere travellin to Ceylon in 1906. Originally Vogeler worked in a romantic style, after his turn to communism he changed to the more ideological style of communism. Vogeler was a many talented painter, graphic artist, draughstsman and designer, working in various style-periods, e.g.: Pre-raphaelitism, romanticism, cubism and even futurism. Ihis work is highly valued and seldomly sold by auction. This coopy printed by Otto Feising. Very fine and clean copy in an art nouveau style wooden frame. Rare.
