Baron Van Hoëvell, later by P.Bleeker (et.al.), absorbed by the Journal Indische Gids in 1903. Van Hoëvell, a dutch protestant minister by origin served on Java and is known as a progressive opponent of the dutch colonial system in Indonesia and a strong promotor of the interest of the Javanese population. After his posting he became an important member of dutch parliament.
