She wrote the song "Auld Robin Gray", was a friend of the Prince Regent, and in 1797 she travelled with her husband Andrew Barnard to Africa after he was appointed Secretary to The Cape. She travelled around the countryside, wrote back many letters to London, her family & friends about what she saw. 2nd impression, first published 1948. 354 pages including chapter notes. 8.75" x 5.5". Cover slightly rubbed on edges, contents near fine but front end pages have library marks & "Sale 1995" stamped in red. Near fine d./w. but edges of spine slightly chipped, faint mark on spine where library number peeled off & small piece missing from back top edge. 1949
