This memoir by Constable's friend is based on Constable's own letters and conversation. 434 pages, on thin paper, including notes on the illustrations in the text, on the plates, & works exhibited. With 72 of Constable's pictures,14 are in colour, 58 in black & white. Near fine in dark blue binding, gold lettering on cream background, but top of pages 5 - 64 are faintly creased where another book was pushed on top. D./w. is near fine but top edge of spine is torn 1" down the side, a ½" tear on back top edge with a faint crease between, & slightly foxed. 7¼" x 4½". 1951
