Description: Printed for Samuel Leigh, 18 Strand, London. 1817. FIRST EDITION. Small oblong format with the gatherings in sixes and fours. (5.4 x 3.5 inches). viii, 232pp. Dual French and English text on each page. Original Publishers binding of half black sheep with marbled paper on boards. Printed blue paper label mounted onto the front board. Gilt lettering to the spine. Previous owners neat notes written in black ink on the front blank free endpaper. A couple of pages are a little loose and have minor fraying to the page edges. The hinges are cracked but holding and the binding is rubbed to the edges. The whole book is a bit loose in the binding. The publishers advertisement states that the book is "for the improvement of Young Persons in Epistolary Correspondence". A scarce Juvenile Instruction book. A search of Worldcat shows just one copy in Library holdings globally, that being the one in the British Library.
