Description: Printed by Edward Walker, for T. Bewick; Sold by him, and E. Charnley, Newcastle ; and Longman and Co. London. 1821. Two volumes. Small 4to. (10.2 x 6.7 inches). Illustrated with fine wood engravings by Bewick. A bright and clean set throughout. Bound in early nineteenth century diced brown calf boards professionally re-backed with later brown calf spines. A pencilled note on the front blank endpaper of volume 1 states that the books were re-backed in 1960 by Oliver & Boyd of Edinburgh. Spines ruled and decorated in blind. Twin burgundy labels, gilt, to each volume. Labels chipped to edges and with the 'B' from the author name lacking on the label to volume one, otherwise all other lettering intact. Marbled endpapers with previous owners bookplates to the front pastedowns. All edges marbled. Some very minor rubbing but overall a very good copy.
