Finely bound in contemporary full tree calf binding. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. The compartments fully decorated and ruled in gilt. Red morocco title label, gilt. Decorative gilt border on boards. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Neat five line school prize inscription, from The Old College, Windermere, and dated 1917, to the blank side of the front free endpaper. The binding isn't signed but is certainly the work of a master binder. A fine copy in a fine, highly decorative, tree calf binding.
