Très belle photographie originale en tirage argentique d'époque, montée sur carton, représentant Jacques Prévert fumant face à l'enclos d'un d'éléphant dont la trompe dépasse à travers les barreaux. L'enclos est celui du Jardin des Plantes (Paris). Une éraflure dans la partie haute du cliché. Envoi autographe signé au feutre : ""Pour Jean Mattei - son ami Jacques"". Nous n'avons pu trouver aucun exemplaire de ce cliché dans les collections publiques. Saisissant portrait du poète, qui consacra un très beau texte au pachyderme : Éléphant je pense souvent à toi quand je suis tout seul quand je suis avec les autres quand je me promène dans la campagne avec une petite badine [...] Tu es le grand animal je connais tes oreilles Enfant je suis monté sur toi dans un jardin [...] Je te vois tel que tu es Présent comme une véritable chose vivante Et tout ce que les hommes racontent sur toi me fait rire du mauvais rire [...] Jean Mattei, dédicataire de cette très belle photographie, fut le médecin de Chagall et d'André Gide et vivait à Saint-Paul-de-Vence. - s.l. Prévert also, using paint, reddened the end of his cigarette. Stamp of the Doisneau studio in Montrouge on the back of the picture. One central fold. On this rare photograph, reproduced in the book Rue Jacques Prévert by Robert Doisneau, the poet poses in front of the Catéchismes chapel of the Église Saint-Jacques-Saint-Christophe de la Villette, situated in the 19th arrondissement in Paris. Jean Mattei, dedicatee of this work, was Chagall and André Gide's doctor and lived in Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
