Attractive copy in excellent frame Sold framed (not recommended for overseas sale due to freight costs). A full-colour reproduction of the oil on canvas by Thomas Baines (undated). The original is in the possession of The Royal Green Jackets (Rifle) Museum in Winchester, UK,This illustrates the Rifle Brigade crossing a river. It is likely that this is the Orange River and that the picture is representative of Cathcart’s forces crossing the river in his campaign against Moshoeshoe in Lesotho. One wagon has crossed the river and is on its way, another is waiting to cross, one has come to grief in the mud, and men are crossing having removed their boots and trousers to avoid getting too wet!
