Karl Lagerfeld asked publisher Steidl to create a book of his own photography for the press launch of this new perfume. The publisher recounts: “As the books were placed on the seats, I realised they smelt very strongly of fresh ink on paper, and it didn’t strike me as the ideal situation for a perfume launch ... I told Karl that I didn’t think we should put out the books, but he simply replied: Rubbish! The smell of a freshly printed book is the best perfume in the world”. Small print-run.
