Among other accomplishments John Brent Mills (1921-2009) was South Africa's ambassador to Italy and the Vatican. This autobiographical writing is set during the second World War, commencing at the fall Tobruk and recording further experiences in Italy where he became a prisoner of war, and eventually an escapee. Further information to be found on a web site devoted to him. Hard to find item as most of his writings were printed only in small or strictly limited runs. An excellent account, detailed and well-written.
