Author: Gess, F.W. & Gess, S.K. Title: Annals of the Cape Provincial Museums. Volume 11. Part 8. Ethological Notes on Dichragenia Neavei (Kohl) (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae), an African Spider-Hunting Wasp Building a Turreted, Subterranean Nest.
Description: Cape Provincial Museum, Albany Museum, Grahamstown, Natural History. Volume 11. Part 8. 31st December 1976. Stapled wraps, p.129-p.134 illustrated, 184mm wide x 240mm high. New unread copy. Provides a more detailed account than that of Chapman (based upon a single nest in the Rukwa valley in Tanzania), and compares the nesting of Dichragenia Neavei with Dichragenia Pulchricoma described in an earlier paper. Of particular interest is the form of the nest which by possessing a mud entrance turret surmounting the subterranean burrows and cells was believed to represent a nest type previously unknown within the Pompilidae.
