Experiencing the 9th Frontier War, as a champion cyclist, in trekking by ox-wagon from the Cape to the Transvaal and to Mashonaland, in making the first car trip from Durban to Cape Town via Johannesburg, in founding and retiring from his own motor retail outlet (Connocks), his active life spanned many tumultuous changes. Includes tipped-in 3pp 1955 personal letter from him to P. MacFarlane who has inscribed this his own book. Also newspaper clipping with photograph of show committee (appears to be cut from motor car supplement).
