Title: Journal of the Rev. George Champion. American Missionary in Zululand 1835-9.

No inscriptions. a Fine copy in VG dustwrapper (clean & bright, spine tanned but no loss, chips, or tears). George Champion was one of a party dispatched by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (in 1834?) to start a mission near Port Natal, the party arriving in Cape Town on 6th February 1835. They were instructed to keep a daily journal for submission to the Board. Delayed by act of war they only arrived in Port Natal on 21st December. Champion's diary starts on this date. Dingane was not a trustworthy person and his attitude to the missionaries changed continually. Champion's diary is a valuable personal insight into Dingane's despotic rule.
