Good. ¶ This is a collection of seven handwritten notebooks dated 1929-1932, five of which consist of chemical analyses of many hundreds of commercial soap and shampoo products [Packer's Tar Soap, New York; Pitral-Haarwasser; Scherings Schaumpon"; Seifenflocken "Das beste für Haarwäsche"; Sapolux: " The Best Soap for the Hair"; etc, etc, etc], totalling over 1200 handwritten pages. Some loosely-inserted scrap papers used for notes suggest that Saphir and Klotz might have been employees of the German firm Schwarzkopf. The first notebook [no. 7] is the work of W. Klotz, the others by Saphir. One of the other two notebooks is labelled on cover " Untersuchung der Nahrungs-u. Genussmittel".
