With the bookplate of Sir Richard Gregory, 1st Baronet FRS, FRAS (1864–1952) British astronomer and promoter of science. Some of his work was published as by Richard A. or R. A. Gregory. Gregory was professor of astronomy at Queen's College, London, and wrote textbooks on astronomy, chemistry, hygiene, physics and other scientific subjects. Additionally with the bookplate of Capt. Gregory Coldstream Regiments of Guards. William Borlase (1695-1772). Antiquary. ODNB ‘... Between 1752 and 1757 (with the exception of 1754) Borlase made tours around central and eastern Cornwall gathering material for his next book. He had hoped to publish a topographical survey of the county, but this ambition was beyond the capacity of one man, by then in his sixties, and he abandoned the plan in 1757. But the [above work] was published at Oxford in 1758, following which he donated his collection of fossils, minerals, and antiquities to the Ashmolean Museum ...’
