The novel ( originally Un Certain Sourire ) was written when Sagan was only 20. concerns Sagan's usual themes of love & passion involving wealthy and disillusioned bourgeois characters, this time the story is related by a Parisian student who has an experimental love affair with a much older man. Ash translated the book for the UK Murray edition, whilst the US edition ( E P Dutton ) was translated by Anne Green.
