Fellowship in a December 1954 2nd impression. Towers is a 1956 4th impression & Return is a November 1955 2nd impression. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ A classic work of fiction, much imitated but never equalled. The first volume is techincally the first revised edition of the text - the printers had, inexplicably broken up the forms holding the type after the first impression was struck, thus the whole book had to be reset it for this printing. This enabled Tolkien's corrections to the text to be included.
