ISBN: 0903400170 ¶ A translation of Jacob's 1945 'Conseils Ŕ Un Jeune Počte', published in English to mark the centenary of Jacob's birth. The book was written in 1941, in the form of a series of short paragraphs, intended by Jacob to answer the question 'What is a lyrical line?' It was to be Jacob's last major statement on poetry, he died in 1944 in a Nazi deportation camp. Jacques Evrard, to whom Jacob's answer to the question was directed, provides an afterword.
