Title: La Théorie Harmonique - Tome III : Psychologie.
Description: Gauthier Villars, Paris , 1957, 1st edition. Large format paperback, G. 489pp, edges of the wrappers & page margins rather tanned, a good reading copy. Paperback , no dustjacket. ¶ The third volume of Lamouche's 'harmonic theory', a notable text in the history of rhythmology. Lamouche rejects materialism, evolutionism and modern art, promotes a Christian and more generally spiritualistic vision, and appeals, for good measure, to a government of 'strong consciences'. Of particular note are the ideas of 'emergence' and 'levels of complexity', which Lamouche identifies very early, while rejecting the non-teleological character. [Secrétan, 'The Harmonic Theory of André Lamouche'.
