Description: Typographia Aldina, Prati, 1845, 1st edition. Half vellum over cloth, VG. 4 volumes in 2, x+722+564pp, 530+552pp, indices to both volumes, foxed & with a ecclesiastical smell to both volumes, cloth rubbed and faded with the vellum yellowed & with a few small nicks to the green morocco lettering pieces ( with a larger piece missing from that on the first volume ) a nice set, Ex Library [ St Augustine's Monastery, Ramsgate ] with their bookplates to the pastedowns & ink stamp to the title & occasionally to the text margins, printed in double column. The spine labels refer to these volumes as being volume 8 & 9 of a larger incomplete works of Pope Benedict XIV, where as the half titles refer to them as volumes 15, 16 & 17 of the Works. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ The Papal Bulls, part of a larger collection but complete in themselves, issued under the Papacy of Pope Benedict XIV, who was Pope 1740 - 1758.
